Mississippi State University Thermal Energy Storage Plant

Mississippi State University utilizes a 1500 ton centrifugal chiller to produce 10,800 ton-hours of ice storage. The ice is used to shift approximately 1200 tons of cooling from the existing Central Cooling Plant to the ice storage plant during serving electrical utility company’s “ON-PEAK” periods.

Services Provided

Mechanical design, control system design and commissioning of the campus ice storage central plant. All new mechanical equipment and control sequences were extensively functionally tested on site and validated using trend data review.
